Helping and engaging with our local community is central to the ethos of Like an Egg. We’re keen to make a difference in South Wales so we didn’t hesitate to accept the invitation from the charity Valleys Kids to film their Alcohol Awareness Day.
The event was funded by Comic Relief, it’s purpose was to advise and educate local youngsters about the dangers that alcohol can cause. Valleys Kids ran numerous workshops throughout the day, engaging the youngsters into discussions and physical activities.
The youth theatre group expertly re-enacted different excessive alcohol scenarios, then the audience were asked to comment and discuss what went wrong and how they’d act differently. Local police officers spoke about the dangers of drink driving, bringing an impressive simulator with them for the youngsters to try out.
Our aim was to capture the essence and purpose of the day, demonstrating the importance of workshops like this. We managed this by conducting interviews with the youth workers and the young people themselves, who reflected on what they’d done that day.
It’s great to help our local community and it was refreshing to document some of the tireless work that charities do in supporting our local community.
