If only I could dream we could start again…….
Like an Egg are proud to reveal our latest production, the music video for the Lewis Watson track ‘Stay’. The single is the first from his debut album ‘The Morning’ which is released in June. Once again we collaborated with director Craig Roberts, following the successful Los Campesinos! video we shot together last Autumn.
This video takes place in a ghoulish cemetery, where the dreams of a lonely girl come true as she falls in love with the dead movie star from her favorite films. It’s a magically surreal yet moving love story.
The shoot took place on an exhausting January evening in the magnificent Cathays Cemetery. Astonishingly the torrential wind and rain subsided, allowing us a brief window of clear weather to film the video. The cemetery was an extraordinary location that art director Carly Wattley transformed into a breathtaking Tim Burtonesque playground. The costume and make-up team of Julie Fox and Sarah-Jane Perez soon filled it with dozens of deceased spirits who lurked in the eerie darkness.
It was a marathon shift for the Like an Egg crew, but we’re overjoyed with the beautiful footage DoP Luke Jacobs managed to capture. We’re immensely pleased with the finished product, which we edited and put together in a couple of demanding days.
Special thanks to the drama students from Coleg Morgannwg, Cathays Cemetery and all who helped make this shoot a success. You can check out some examples of our other music promos by clicking here. Images by Tom Sparey.
