This is a big question. I suppose the easy answer from our point of view is yes of course you do! Unfortunately for us this isn’t true. Having a video for your business is just a tool and not an essential one. But as any business will know to be successful you have to be aware of what is going on around you and be prepared for change.
For example 20 years ago having a website for your business was not an essential tool. A nice bonus perhaps but it didn’t really effect sales. Today if you don’t have a website the chances are you are missing out on a large chunk of work. People used to use yellow pages now they use Google. Times have changed.
I’m not going to say having a video is as important as having a website. Not yet anyway. But where Google is the most popular site in the world, Youtube is number two. One billion people are visiting a video hosting site every month, that’s a huge amount of potential customers to get started on.
Habits change and so do the way people consume information. It may have been the case that 20 years ago people would take time to sit and read a nice glossy broacher with all that information about your business.
But that was before they had to write 30 emails a day or answer phone calls everywhere they went. And that’s just businesses! The everyday consumer has even less time. To get their attention you are competing with endless cat videos and that ability for them to click anywhere they want including to the competition. Time is precious.
With this in mind it make sense to use video. Yes some people prefer to read and read. But you cant hide from the fact a huge percentage of people will prefer seeing what you do, how you do it, why you do it and how good you are at it rather than read about it. Video is the best way to do this.
However this doesn’t mean you need to look for a company like us. We make great videos for businesses. They are professional and engaging. That’s what people pay us for. You can see our costs here. But for most small businesses the idea of using video, never mind paying for it is totally alien. So if you are curious about whether video will help you and are short on budgets, try it for yourself.
Start small maybe just talking to a web camera or just simply showing what you do. It doesn’t need to be technically flawless because people can see you’ve done it yourself and will forgive easily. Use your webcam or phone anything to get started and keeping going. If you need any advice on where to get started just ask.
If people start watching great but it’s not about going “viral.” You want people to start talking, start asking questions then start buying. If you want to go viral, get a huge budget or film your cat. If you want people to give you business, show them what you do is better than anyone else.
Then when you’re ready to take it to another level to really show off what you’re business is about call in a video production company that understands your business and can make something really special. From promotional to brand videos and explainer videos the possibilities are endless. See some of our work
